WFRUG is going to be transitioning over to a new blog, this one will be working for about another month or so. The New address will be http://wfrug.wordpress.com/
Project Chronicle OVERVIEW Project Chronicle will be a free technology preview from the Autodesk Research team that allows users to capture, share, and learn from software workflows. Chronicle makes it extremely convenient and easy to document and share workflows. The plug-in will allow users to capture workflows from within the application. The Chronicle system records the timing and details of workflow information – the mouse clicks and typing, the tool and settings being used, along with a continuous video screen and voice capture. Captured data is then uploaded to a web server where other users can view a video of the workflow and see a timeline marked up with all the command usage information. In essence, Chronicle will allow software experts to showcase their expertise, and will allow other users to view and learn from these real-world expert examples. To Sign up Click Here:

Here is a 4-Part Video I would like to send your way. I found it on Autodesk Building's YouTube Channel. A new 4 part video series has launched introducing the value of BIM for MEP and structural engineers. Watch episode one of four today! In this episode of “Cafe BIM – Architect Driven Changes” watch what happens when Greg’s hospital project runs into a mechanical design challenge.
There is a new post on Revit Clinic that discusses Scheduling Duct and Pipe Elbows by Angle and I thought I would pass this on to you. Here is the article: A common request we are seeing is the desire to schedule duct and pipe elbows by angle so that they can be scheduled and ordered. As the Angle parameter is a System Family it cannot be scheduled normally. The help automate this process we have found that creating a Shared Parameter with a formula should pull the angle of the elbow, which in turn can be scheduled. The process for goes like this: Create a Shared Parameter file. Edit the elbow families and add the Shared Parameter. In the Family Types, set the formula for the Elbow Angle parameter to = Angle. In the project, create a duct or pipe fitting schedule with the Elbow Angle Parameter (along with any other parameters). You should now have a schedule that shows the Angles. From here, you can filter the information to best suit your needs. One thing to keep in mind, is that initially the schedule will show all fittings (Tees, Crosses, Transitions, etc.), so filtering by "Elbow Angle > Parameter Exists", should only show the elbow families with the shared parameter. To see a video of this process go to this link:

Have you ever needed to search for Revit project elements and their parameter values for a given string? Give this plugin from Autodesk a try. Revit Search String from Autodesk labs. Autodesk Labs
For you structural folks out there. Seen this on the blog from Autodesk Bim and Beam blog. Not sure as to the full use of the program but there has to be structural person out there that would have a better answer for anyone with a question. You can access the link here.
Here is a small snip it from the blog.

Well we are coming up on that time when our meeting is going to be held. After our last meeting it was discussed about a Wasatch front BIM standard of some sorts. When asked what the thinking behind this would be it was stated. "We all work together at one point in time". That being said I thought about it and this person was correct. So what kind of items do we want in a standard? Or better yet do we need in a standard? I like the idea of some type of standard along the community for architects, mechanical, electrical and contractors. SO this is where you folks come in at. Send me an email post on facebook on the WFRUG wall. Or comment on this post. I know it is a competitive business out there trying to get an edge over the other guy or gal. But if we can make a standard and "play" together we are only going to help our clients in the long run.
